Pictures from the Tannenberg reinstallation
in the newly completed visitors center of
Historic Old Salem, NC
March 18 & 19, 2004
Thanks to Wyett Colclasure for these great pictures from the reinstallation in
Old Salem, NC!!
Pictures of the pedalboard and the keydesk. The original of each had been lost during
19th century rebuilds and were reconstructed based on examples from other Tannenberg
organs. The manual keys were based on the keys from the organ at Hebron Lutheran
Church in Madison County, Virginia, and also using detective work of the evidence
of the originals which was left on the console after the rebuilds. The original keys
had been replaced by Henry Erben at the time of his rebuild in the mid 1830s. The
drawknobs were also reconstructed based on the Madison organ since they had also
been replaced by Erben.
