Pictures from the Tannenberg reinstallation
in the newly completed visitors center of
Historic Old Salem, NC
March 18 & 19, 2004
Thanks to Wyett Colclasure for these great pictures from the reinstallation in
Old Salem, NC!!
A magnificent view of the façade in the new auditorium. Notice that the motif
of the shades in the back of the organ (hiding the open wood 16') is repeated in
the decoration of the auditorium behind the organ. The door at the back was a walk-through
for the choir in the original gallery installation since there was no other way to
get around the organ. The rear shade are unusual in Tannenberg's organs, too, since
the base pipework was usually open. The story is that the minister at the time thought
the pipes should be hidden.
