McKim Mansion's Hook & Hastings being moved!!
Here is a photojournal of the McKim Hook & Hastings as it is being dismantled
by organ builder David Story for restoration and relocation to its new home at the
Universalist National Memorial Church at 1810 16th Street, NW, Washington, DC. Congratulations
to the UNMC for for their part in preserving this bit of Washington's heritage. It
will grace their church and worship services for years to come!

Most of the facade pipes removed
Wrapping the façade pipes The façade pipes appear to have the original
silver
leaf intact. This was coated with an amber shellac to give a "golden" appearance.
Each pipe was individually wrapped in soft wadding then plastic bubbles to
protect this original finish.
